Virginia Tech's Falls Church campus. In 2004, she received the American
Association for Marriage and Family Therapy's Outstanding Contribution
to Marriage and Family Therapy award. She has published over 50 articles
and book chapters on various aspects of intimate partner violence and
has edited three books including her most recent book, Prevention of
Intimate Partner Violence, edited by Haworth Press. In 1997 she and her
colleagues, Drs. Eric McCollum and Karen Rosen at Virginia Tech received
a grant from the National Institute of Mental Health to develop and test
a couple's treatment program for domestic violence. Since that time,
they have continued to develop the model and have trained clinicians
internationally and throughout the United States to use the treatment
model safely with couple having experienced intimate partner violence.
Dr. Stith was recently awarded the 2007 American Family Therapy
Association Distinguished Contribution to Family Systems Research award. Also note that the 2006 Conference will be held at the impressive Eagle Eye Golf Club, located a few minutes North of East Lansing in Bath, MI (www.hawkhollow.com).
